Care Instructions

All Day In May’s gold-plated jewellery is made by PVD coating 18k gold onto a durable stainless steel base. Gold-plated jewellery is holds up well to tarnishing, but natural fading may occur over time depending on how you take care of your pieces. That’s why we encourage you to follow these care instructions to ensure your pieces stay bright and vibrant for years to come:

  • Cleaning your gold-plated jewellery regularly will increase their lifespan. Keeping it simple is best. Do not use harsh chemicals or cleaners that aren't specifically made for gold-plated jewellery.
  • Warm water and a soft cloth is the safest and easiest way to clean your pieces. Rub don't buff. Do not apply a lot of pressure when rubbing, gentle is best.
  • Store your pieces in a soft pouch, box or air-tight container away from direct sunlight and high heat.
  • If improperly stored or exposed to constant friction, your gemstones may chip or become dislodged. Take extra care with these pieces
  • Make sure your hands are clean and dry when handling gold-plated pieces.
  • You can wear your Day In May jewellery when exercising, washing hands, bathing, swimming or doing activities where they may get wet (we certainly do). Over time, constant contact with liquid can lead to oxidisation or fading more quickly.
  • Avoid applying perfume directly onto the pieces (best to spray before then let dry)
  • Some cosmetics and body / hair sprays can also cause fading and oxidation so it is recommended to apply these products before your jewellery.
